Hyperliquid fees
Every fee Hyperliquid charges, in one place: trading fees, funding rates, withdrawal fees, HLP economics, and the builder-code discount that permanently cuts your trading fees by 4%. Numbers from the official docs — not marketing. Not financial advice.

Trading fees (perps and spot)
Per the official docs, both perpetuals and spot markets charge 0.035% taker and 0.01% maker. There is no gas fee for trading on the Hyperliquid L1, and no spread from an AMM — you pay the fee and the spread of the order book, nothing else hidden.
Funding rates
Perpetual positions pay or receive funding periodically, set by the gap between perp and spot prices. Hyperliquid caps hourly funding and shows the rate openly per market; BuyHype displays HYPE's live annualized funding rate on its home page so you can see how crowded longs are before entering.
Withdrawal fees
Withdrawals have a fixed fee that does not scale with size — currently a flat charge per withdrawal. It is negligible for large withdrawals but proportionally heavy for small ones, a frequent criticism of the platform. Batch your withdrawals.
The 4% builder-code discount
Registering through a builder code applies a permanent 4% discount on trading fees for your first $25M of volume. BuyHype's link applies this automatically — the discount is baked into the account, not a promo window. This is how the site funds itself, and the AI signal is computed independently of it.
HLP vault economics
HLP is a community-funded vault that provides liquidity to perp markets and shares in their PnL and fees. It has historically delivered strong returns, but it also absorbs losses when traders win — the March 2025 JELLY incident was an HLP loss. Treat HLP as a risk asset, not a savings account.
How fees flow to HYPE
Trading fees are the engine of the HYPE token: roughly 97-99% is routed to the Assistance Fund, which buys HYPE on-chain and burns it. That is the buyback yield you see on BuyHype's valuation page — your fees literally shrink the token supply.
Fee comparison at a glance
Hyperliquid: 0.035%/0.01% with no gas. Major CEX perp takers typically tier from ~0.02% down to ~0.05% before discounts. Onchain peers like dYdX v4 use volume-tiered taker fees with maker rebates on some tiers. For makers, Hyperliquid's flat 0.01% is among the simplest and cheapest anywhere.
